If you're setting up a new business,
you should contact CMC. There may be a need for a commercial license under the
rules.
If you already have a licensed of
your business, you must renew the license annually. However, if the following
examples apply to your business, you may have to apply for a new license before
the expiration of your current license.
You have changed the place or
premises in which you operate and which fall within the boundaries of Colombia.
The ownership of the business is, for example, changed. You just bought a new
job. You changed the type of business as you turned a hairdresser into a food /
restaurant.
New configuration in the case of
a business, you must apply for a commercial license and obtain it before you
begin the operation. If you own an existing license, but you must apply for a
new license (subject to the above conditions), you should apply for a new
license and you must register before the expiration of your current license.
If you are the owner of an
existing business, then the CMC will initiate the renewal process by September
of the first year, as your license for 2009 is renewed, the process will start
in September 2008. In particular, the renewal process was updated on March 31
of the year for which the license is valid, as in the example above, the license
will be released fresh until March 31, 2009.
Your company has the right to
obtain a license if it meets the requirements of the Fire Department (see Fire
Department Complaints Requests), Public Health Department (Public Health
Department Requirements) and Urban Planning Department of the city.
Accordingly, the first step in
applying for a commercial license is to ensure that you have complied with all
your business-related requirements. The details of the needs of each department
are given in the next section for each licensed firm. Once you go to the CMC
Ensure compliance with the requirements and apply for a license.
